In the event held on Dec 2, 2019 at the BSP, leaders of government and private sector renewed their commitment to accelerate adoption of electronic payments in the country.
The release of the study done by United Nations-based BETTER THAN CASH ALLIANCE - 2019 Better Than Cash Alliance (BTCA) Study -THE STATE OF DIGITAL PAYMENTS IN THE PHILIPPINES (see link below) shows that the share of electronic payments in the country has increased from 1% in 2013 to 20% in 2018.
BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno expressed confidence that the number could easily increase to 30% in 2020.
